All three volumes of the General History of Cape Verde (História Geral de Cabo Verde) are available on the internet (in Portuguese) on the site Memória de África.

The three volumes of the history reference, which was elaborated by a group of Cape Verdean and Portuguese specialists, were scanned and placed on the Web site http://memoria-africa.ua.pt.

The General History of Cape Verde was coordinated by Maria Emília Madeira Santos and authored by António Leão Correia e Silva (Cape Verde), Ilídio Baleno (Cape Verde), Iva Maria Cabral (Cape Verde), Maria Emília Madeira Santos (Portugal), Maria João Soares (Portugal) and Zelinda Cohen (Cape Verde).

It received Honorable Mention in the Boa Esperança awards, attributed by Portugal’s National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research, in 1994, and the Baltasar Lopes da Silva Award, attributed by the Association of Cape Verdean Writers, in 1998.
